In a role reversal, Aaron Norris is joined this week by his own dad and the Norris Group’s very own Bruce Norris. They received a lot of calls and emails asking them about Florida, and they assured everyone that Doug Duncan, Peter Fortunato, and John Schaub had some property damage but are doing ok. Bruce said he built his Florida project to the spec of knowing this could happen. Leesburg has probably not seen a hurricane in 100 years that was really a direct hit. The eye went directly over them, and one roof was hit by a jagged object. Outside of this, they have very little damage. Part of this came from his experience with Hurricane Andrew where he looked at the survivability of different types of construction. This included different types of construction including manufactured homes versus stick built or concrete.

Bruce and Aaron discuss the repercussions from Hurricane's Irma and Harvey, the difference between the two when it came to the type of damage, Bruce's job after Hurricane Andrew to help put things together, the main issue in Florida regarding flood insurance, whether California could see a decline in contractors, Florida's current quadrant, and much more on this week's Norris Group real estate radio show and podcast.

T.J. Clark of TurnKey Joins Aaron Norris on the Real Estate Radio Show #520

This week's guest is T.J. Clark, interviewed by Aaron Norris. T.J. is park of TurnKey Rentals. Prior to co-founding them, he was the president and CEO of Limos.com, which became the largest online marketplace for limo and car service. It expanded globally and launched partnerships with companies like Orbitz, Sabre, Concur, Delta Airlines, LiveNation and OpenTable. Prior to that, T.J. was V.P of Operations at IAC/InterActiveCorp, which included over 85 internet brands with 20 million visitors per day. Sites there included Expedia, Hotels.com, Ticketmaster, LendingTree and Match.com. He was also part of Hotwire.com on their startup team back in 2000.

As far as TurnKey Rentals goes, they are one of the largest full-service property management companies in the U.S. It is also one of the fastest growing start-up companies in Austin, Texas and has raised more than $20 million in funding. Original investors include the likes of Expedia, Zillow, Hotwire, Glassdoor, and Homeaway. TurnKey was founded to make the problems and pain points of renting vacation homes go away. Most importantly, they make sure there are no surprises for guests and owners. Aaron had stayed at a property a few weeks before in Palm Springs and had a good experience partly because of the technology and his company.

Bruce and TJ discuss the services TurnKey provides, the benefits and downsides of having a property manager vs. doing it yourself, the markets with the best ROIs, TurnKey's important stages for choosing the right guests, the future for vacation rentals, and much more on this week's Norris Group real estate radio show and podcast.
