This podcast begins with the discussion on millennials being divided into two new names. Bruce wondered what the new names were, which John said they were broken down first by those born in the 1980s called the sharers. These were the ones who invented the sharing economy. Those born in the 1990s were called the connectors because they are the ones leading us to being connected 24/7 with our smart phones. Everybody’s definition of when the millennials begin and end is different. Mark Zuckerberg is a millennial, and so is John’s daughter who is a high school junior. However, everybody can relate to what year you are born and your high school classmates.

Next up on the panel were Sean O'Toole, Nick Bailey, and Gary Acosta. Nick Bailey serves as Vice President for Zillow Group and helps build the company’s strategic partners and relationships throughout the U.S. Gary is one of the co-founders and CEO of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals. Prior to launching PropertyRadar Sean successfully purchased and flipped more than 150 residential and commercial foreclosures. Bruce opened the event by bringing up his first two guest panelists. The first up was John Burns, founder of John Burns Real Estate Consulting. He founded his company in 2001 to help executives make informed investment decisions. Before founding the company he worked at a national consulting firm for four years, and he worked for ten years at KPMG. He worked as a CPA and aid in their consulting practice. He is a highly sought after speaker, especially adept at making complicated analysis easy to understand. 410,000 people follow him on LinkedIn, and 30,000 plus subscribe to his emails. His new book Big Shifts Ahead offers insights and clarity into demographic shifts that can create exciting opportunities for business professionals.

Joining John was Doug Duncan. Doug is Fannie Mae’s Vice President and Chief Economist. He is responsible for managing Fannie Mae’s strategy division in economics and mortgage market analysis groups. Prior to joining Fannie Mae, Duncan was Senior Vice President and Chief Economist at the Mortgage Bankers Association. This week's radio show carries over from last week when we got to hear from the heads of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Make a Wish Foundation.  When we last left off, Sarah Pizzaruso of Make a Wish told about a wish granted to a little boy named Finn, who wanted to be a cool kid.  His wish did not just give Finn hope, strength, and joy. It gave the same to his mom and dad. Now, as they continue to tell stories about the day, Make a Wish knows it extends much far beyond this. It extends to the limo driver who delivered him VIP to the entrance rivaling that of a Hollywood premiere. It extends to the crowd of volunteers lining the red carpet and holding signs and cheering Finn on like the rock start he is. It also extends to every employee and shopper in the mall that day who helped a little boy become what he dreamed of most: the coolest kid in town. It was not just a wish for one kid or family. Finn’s wish left us all feeling hope, strength, and joy. That is the power of Make a Wish.

Aaron Norris opened up the event by giving the history of I Survived Real Estate. It was created back in 2008 during some of the toughest years the industry has ever experienced. They had a few simple goals in mind when they first set it up. Their first goal was to invite friends throughout the real estate community to celebrate the work they collectively do. The second was to invite thought leaders who help shape the industry and share their thoughts on the year ahead. Thirdly, their goal was to raise money for important charities.

Gary is the co-founder and CEO of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) and a 25-year veteran of the housing industry. NAHREP is the nation’s largest minority real estate trade organization. With over 20,000 members and 40 local chapters in his capacity as CEO. He created the Hispanic Wealth Project, a new 501 C3 non-profit organization with a strategic plan to triple Hispanic household wealth by 2024. He also co-founded several mortgage real estate and technology companies, including New Vista Asset Management, Counter Max, and Real Estate EspaƱol.com. In 2013 he co-founded the Mortgage Collaborative, a cooperative of mortgage companies that work together to increase profitability and market share.

Bruce Norris is joined this week by Tom Salomone. Tom is a realtor from Coral Springs, Florida and is the 2016 president of the National Assocation of Realtors. NAR, the voice of real estate, is America’s largest trade association representing over 1 million realtors involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries. Tom has been licensed in real estate for more than 40 years. He is the second generation realtor as well as a broker/owner of Real Estate Two Inc., a firm specializing in residential real estate. Over the years Tom has been named realtor of the year multiple times and served the industry in many capacities over his 40-year career. Tom is experienced in both business and sports in order to serve his community through a number of different organizations, including the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. He has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce, a Coral Springs charter school business sponsor. As a water control district supervisor he has coached over 46 sports teams in local city leagues and been a member of the Amateur Athletic Union in the United States Specialty Sports Association. He volunteers with organizations to prevent heart disease and cancer. He attends the St. Andrews Church and is a proud father of two sons, TJ and Bryce and husband to his lovely wife Diana.
