Something that always comes up is people get a little overwhelmed about how to get into the business. They do not know where to start or what they bring to the party. It is not just about the timing, which dictates the activity investors do to make money and find the deals. Based on your personality, experience, how active you want to be in the space, and how much cash you have to play in the business, they all really dictate the strategies open to you. Aaron had somebody who was an accountant and worked for a property manager who said he did not have any experience when filling out the survey. Before Roofstock, Rich spent 20 years doing investment banking with a focus on capital-raising and strategic advisory within the real estate sector and emerging single-family rental industry. Firms included Jeffries, Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, Leihman Brothers, and Morgan Stanley. He hosted the first ever single-family rental conference back in May 2012.

He was also instrumental in the formation of Invitation Homes, the largest owner of single-family residences and rentals in the U.S. today.
