Bruce opened the event by bringing up his first two guest panelists. The first up was John Burns, founder of John Burns Real Estate Consulting. He founded his company in 2001 to help executives make informed investment decisions. Before founding the company he worked at a national consulting firm for four years, and he worked for ten years at KPMG. He worked as a CPA and aid in their consulting practice. He is a highly sought after speaker, especially adept at making complicated analysis easy to understand. 410,000 people follow him on LinkedIn, and 30,000 plus subscribe to his emails. His new book Big Shifts Ahead offers insights and clarity into demographic shifts that can create exciting opportunities for business professionals.

On October 19, 2012, The Norris Group proudly presented I Survived Real Estate 2012.  An expert line-up of industry experts joined Bruce Norris to discuss perplexing industry trends, head-scratching legislation, and the outlook for real estate in the coming year.  Over $77,000 was raised to benefit Make a Wish and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Sarah Pizzaruso from Make a Wish spoke about five-year old McClain who had his wish granted to play football with a professional team and how this affected so many others, including his family and those at the stadium.  Lainie Strouse from St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital also spoke about the child Braden who they have helped as well as the the many progressions they are making in the medical field and in cancer research.  In the broadcast segment, Bruce Norris discusses the value of real estate properties today compared to early 2000, underwater borrowers, our current interest rates, unsold inventory in California, what is being done to provide relief more quickly, and much more.  He also discusses with Fannie Mae's economic director Mark Palim consumer sentiment towards the market, their expectations on housing prices, increased rents, and if we have passed the bottom of the housing market.  To find out more, tune in next week for I Survived Real Estate 2012, part 3.

E.J. Burke, Vice Chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association, Joins Bruce Norris on the Real Estate Radio Show #298

E.J. is vice-chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association as well as the executive vice president and group head of Key Bank Real Estate Capital and Corporate Banking Services. This is a division of Key Bank NA. Burke is one of five group heads in Key Corporate Banking Division with responsibilities for Key Bank’s real estate capital, Key’s treasury management services, international and foreign exchange services, custody services, and the financial institution’s client segment.

Mark Palim, Director of Economics for Fannie Mae, Joins Bruce Norris on the Real Estate Radio Show #292

Bruce Norris is joined this week by Mark Palim. Mark is a director in the economic and strategic research group at Fannie Mae. His work focuses on the impacts of trends in the financial services sector on the economy and on Fannie Mae. Dr. Palim has a Ph.D. in economics from George Mason University and a B.A. in international studies from John Hopkins University. He lives in Bethesda, Maryland and will join the panel at I Survived Real Estate. Bruce describes Mark as being in the What’s Next? Business. He has to look in the future and tell people what is likely going to happen next.
