Ralph McLaughlin of Trulia Joins Bruce Norris on the Real Estate Radio Show #487

Bruce Norris is joined this week by Ralph McLaughlin. Ralph is the Chief Economist for Trulia and leads their housing and economics research team. He provides house hunters with key insights about the economy as well as housing trends and public policy. His educational background includes a BS in geography and regional development from the University of Arizona. He also has a PhD in planning, policy, and design from the University of California Irvine with a specialization in urban development. Bruce Norris is joined this week by Harry Dent. Harry is the founder of Dent Research, an economic forecasting firm specializing in demographic trends. Mr. Dent offers unprecedented and refreshingly understandable tools for seeing the key economic trends that will affect your life, business, and investments over the rest of your lifetime. Mr. Dent is also a best-selling author. In his book The Great Boom Ahead, published in 1992. Mr. Dent stood virtually alone in accurately forecasting the un-anticipated boom of the 1990s and the continued expansion into 2007.

In his new book The Demographic Cliff, he continues to educated audiences about his predictions for the next Great Depression, especially between 2014 and 2019 that he has been forecasting now for 20 years. Mr. Dent is the editor of the Economic and Market Newsletter and has created the HS Dent Financial Advisors Network. Mr. Dent has been interviewed by just about every program possible. He has an MBA from Harvard Business School.

One of his most famous calls was writing a book back in 1992 entitled The Great Boom Ahead. When most of the authors were writing about a repeat of a Great Depression, in 2008 Harry also wrote a book projecting a Great Depression. He is the author of many books, which include The Great Boom Ahead 1992 and The Roaring 2000s and The Great Depression Ahead.

Bruce and Mr. Dent discuss how some of the brightest minds missed the bubble, the upcoming depression and US banking collapse coming in 2011, and the problem with economist and why they often get it wrong. They all discuss the differences between Japan and the US and how demographics play an important role in determining the coming market.
